Funding Sources and Operating Model
“Zeszyty Naukowe Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego Jana Pawła II” is an academic journal published by The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin.
The journal is not operated for profit. Its principal sources of funding and support are:
- institutional funding provided by The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin;
- funds from programmes run by the minister responsible for science and from other programmes supporting the development of academic journals;
- organizational, technical, and infrastructural support provided by the Publisher.
This institutional support covers, in particular, maintaining the publishing infrastructure, operating the KUL Journals Platform – CzasKUL, archiving publications, assigning and maintaining DOIs, and the work involved in preparing, disseminating, and indexing publications.
No Fees or Commercial Revenue
The journal:
- does not charge authors for submitting, reviewing, preparing, or publishing an article;
- does not charge an Article Processing Charge (APC);
- does not charge readers for access to articles;
- does not charge for access to individual publications;
- does not make electronic access conditional on a paid subscription;
- does not publish advertisements or sponsored promotional material.

Editorial Independence
The journal's source of funding has no bearing on:
- the acceptance or rejection of manuscripts;
- the selection of handling editors and reviewers;
- the conduct or outcome of the review process;
- the order in which accepted articles are published;
- the content of the conclusions, interpretations, or opinions presented by authors;
- decisions concerning corrections, corrigenda, or the retraction of articles.
Funding bodies play no part in evaluating individual manuscripts and are not granted any right to approve their content before publication.
All authors are subject to the same evaluation criteria, regardless of affiliation, country of origin, professional status, source of research funding, or relationship with the Publisher.
Because the journal charges no publication fees, neither a fee amount nor the granting of a fee waiver can have any bearing on editorial decisions.
The journal earns no revenue from the sale of printed copies or article offprints.
