Alt Text Guidance (WCAG)
Authors are required to provide alternative text (alt text) for all tables and figures in the article, including charts, diagrams, illustrations and maps. This requirement stems from the WCAG 2.1 digital accessibility standards and the need to produce a PDF publication in a format accessible to users of screen readers and other assistive technologies.
