L’articolo ripercorre brevemente le norme delle Regole monastiche paleocristiane riguardanti le opere caritative. Sono stati presi in considerazione i seguenti legislatori monastici: san Pacomio, san Basilio, sant’Agostino, Rabbula vescovo di Edessa.
