W licznych publikacjach poświęconych chrystologii Pasterza Hermasa centralne miejsce zajmuje Sim V. W dotychczasowych interpretacjach dominuje opinia, że Hermas jest przedstawicielem pneuma-chrystologii. Ponadto jego teologię charakteryzowano jako binitaryzm i adopcjonizm.
