Abstract

Skin care regimes during pregnancy raise many doubts among expectant mothers. These doubts generate commonly known myths regarding both the professional beauty treatments, as well as those available at home. In order not to resign unnecessarily from sometimes needed care, it is necessary to know which ingredients of cosmetic products and treatments should be avoided, and which are suitable for pregnant women. A survey conducted in gynecological clinics in Bydgoszcz revealed that women consciously give up most of the peelings, massages and other body treatments. Furthermore, the majority of expectant mothers also refrain from dyeing their hair and painting their nails. However, current cosmetic market addresses the doubts of pregnant women, offering a variety of products designed especially for them. They contain components suitable for sensitive skin of pregnant women and ensure proper body care, preventing formation of unaesthetic changes typical for pregnancy.
