Abstract

Die Gedanken des Kontextes der Verheißung (Jes 56, 9−57, 13. 20-21) und der eigentlichen Prophezeiung (Jes 57, 14-19) sind in der Form von Gegensätzen angelegt, um der Untreue des auserwählten Volkes die Größe und Transzendenz Gottes noch klarer entgegenzustellen. Die Versöhnung ist ein freies, unverdientes Geschenk Gottes; sie hat ihren Ursprung in der Liebe Gottes, die Gerechtigkeit voraussetzt und als Barmherzigkeit in Erscheinung tritt. Diese Gabe verleiht Gott nur denjenigen, die durch ihre Umkehrbereitschaft zeigen, daß sie sich mit Gott versöhnen wollen. Gott warnt zwar den Sünder zuerst, daß er irrt, aber Er versöhnt sich nicht gegen seinen Willen mit ihm.
