Abstract

Il profeta Zaccaria che profetizza dopo il ritorno degli esiliati dalla Babilonia (538 a. C.) è aperto alla sintesi dei diversi pensieri religiosi, ciò fa sì che, il suo messaggio, faccia da modello all’odierna interpretazione della vita religiosa e sociale. L’autentica vita religiosa si esprime soprattutto nel rispettare le norme morali e non soltanto nell’osservare il digiuno senza la pratica della giustizia sociale. Il digiuno è il modo di entrare in relazione con Dio, però non serve a niente, se l’uomo rimane nei propri peccati. Il digiuno accompagnato da atteggiamenti ostili verso i membri piú deboli della società, è inutile. Perciò, il profeta invita il popolo eletto, alla pratica della giustizia sociale perchè da essa dipende il possesso della terra (la salvezza).
