On the Photograph as a Medium: Insights into Hanemann by Stefan Chwin and Drach by Szczepan Twardoch

Abstract
The article discusses the role of photographs in the selected works of Polish contemporary literature (Hanemann by Stefan Chwin and Drach by Szczepan Twardoch). In the analyzed novels, the motif of photographs is related mainly to the discontinuity of narration; the motif in question not only helps recall events from the distant past and remember the deceased, but also introduces new plot strands. Being a medium of memory, photographs trigger reflection on the ways in which memories are formed.
