Abstract

The aim of the article is to discuss Kazimierz Braun’s memoirs My Father. The author presents the childhood, youth, education, professional work, family, the war period, and the scholarly activity of Juliusz Braun, an outstanding lawyer, economist, and scientist. A very important source of information, apart from the author’s personal memories, was Juliusz Braun’s archive, documents, notes, and articles. The memories are arranged thematically, which allows the reader to follow the path of shaping Juliusz Braun’s identity. The most important category is that of memory, which is the foundation of wisdom, of the knowledge of truth, as well as of the understanding of goodness and beauty, and provides inspiration for action.
