Ethicae loci naturales: Some Metaethical Remarks and Observations

The author of the article reflects on methodological aspects of doing ethics and on the metaethical and ethical theories developed at the Catholic University of Lublin, in particular by Tadeusz Styczeń. The discussion is supplemented by the author’s observations on the concept of life seen as an ethical transcendental and on the question of papal authority.
The text has been reprinted in extenso from the journal Summarium (see Stanisław Majdański, “Ethicae loci naturales: Wybrane uwagi i refleksje metaetyczne,” Summarium 34, no. 54 (2005): 17–47). Because of the commemorative character of the publication, the editors decided not to adjust the scholarly apparatus to the editorial style of Ethos and to forgo correcting citations and introducing footnotes and a bibliography.
