Abstract

The article discusses, on selected examples from the history of the Polish Philology Student Research Group at the Catholic University of Lublin, the model and the main activities of a student research group. The author refers to the tradition of this kind of association and describes its structure and activities in order to show the importance and the multifarious function of a well-working student research group at the university. The text emphasizes the significance of the presence of a Polish Philology student research group which usually contributes to the promotion of the entire milieu of the university by integrating its different faculties. A well functioning Alma Mater eventually becomes the place of encounter of the light emanating from two sources: from above, ex cathedra, from the masters and professors, and from below, from the students active in their research groups.
