Abstract

The purpose of the article is to present the anthropology of John Paul II’s Roman Triptych in the light of his earlier philosophical and theological texts.

The opening part of the triptych (“Stream”) refers to such concepts as: human dignity, wonderment, freedom, and reason, while its second part (“Meditations on the Book of Genesis at the Threshold of the Sistine Chapel”) introduces other philosophical and theological notions, such as: imago Dei, man’s being called to living in a community of persons, and eternal life. The concluding part of the Roman Triptych (“A Hill in the Land of Moriah”) draws on the figure of Abraham and addresses such topics as faith, hope, love, and Christ, the Redeemer of man.
