Hawking-Hartle’s quantum cosmology and its philosophical implications

Abstract

In this paper I address some critical remarks to leading model quantum cosmology - Hawking-Hartle model. This model appeal to a conceptual and mathematical framework - wave function of the Universe using Feynman’s formalism of quantum mechanics path integrals to reconstruct of first moments of Universe evolution. The authors of above mentioned approach to quantum cosmology claim, that these mechanisms describe creation of the Universe ex nihilo. The main aim of this paper is to show a weakness of such interpretations. I show that the concept of ex nihilo should be rather understood as „zero-point-geometry” with a material field than literally understood nothingness.
