“You are what you eat”: On the Power of the “Clean” Diet

Abstract

The article describes the so-called clean diet, which is among the most popular modern diets and which is considered as prohealth. The clean diet is based on eliminating processed foods which are believed to be unclean and thus harmful and dangerous to human health. The research was focused on selected blogs and websites dedicated to the theme of the clean diet, as well as on social media posts related to the topic. The text points out to the cultural contexts of the clean diet, scrutinizes the reasons for its popularity, its connection to the lifestyle, the axiological context of food consumption, and the possible consequences of adopting the clean diet.
