Abstract

The aim of the article is to reconstruct the world-feeling expressed in Adam Zagajewski’s late poems in terms of the subject’s attitude to life. The analyses reveal close connections between the philosophy of life inherent in Zagajewski’s works and the philosophy of creativity, the understanding of the creative act as such and, above all, the understanding of the mission of poetry in the modern world. Truth was indicated as the basic category related to the lyrical self’s attitude both to life and to the creative process and the poet’s calling. The article also indicates a possibility of interpreting Zagajewski’s poetry in metaphysical terms, as well as through the lens of religious meanings, discreetly present in his late works.
