Abstract

Visions of the future formulated in planned development strategies consider the intensive technicization of everyday life and the widespread use of cognitive technologies as key factors. These strategies force us to develop new competencies, one of which, resulting from the integration of nonhuman actors, such as artificial intelligence (AI), into social life, is the acquisition of the ability to enter into a new type of interaction and develop new types of relationships, that is, to communicate with AI. The discussion assumes that, from this point of view, it is the most relevant to examine the key conditions for the occurrence of human-AI communication, that is, to determine what boundary conditions must each communication situation meet in order to be considered communication and what conditions are currently met by AI as a computer program using advanced statistical models to solve tasks. As a result of the analysis, model conditions for the occurrence of the communication process were established, the concept of AI was adjusted, and an attempt was made to recognize what level of “communication” between man and machine can be currently achieved. The conceptual analysis used in the described research allowed the development of the theory necessary to operationalize potential empirical study.
