The Polish virtuoso violinist Stanislaw Serwaczynski (1790–1859) has not gained yet his well-deserved place in the history of music. The aim of this article is to present some hitherto unknown facts relating to his life and soloist career, as well as to his accomplishments as a teacher of violin. His contemporaries considered Serwaczyński as an excellent violinist and an esteemed composer, as well as a man of exceptional integrity who manifested endearing character traits. His colleagues and competitors respected him, and he was adored by his audiences and students. Like other eminent musicians of the time when Poland was deprived of statehood, he fell into oblivion in free Poland.
