Abstract

The author of the essay traces the origins of Karol Wojtyła’s interest in fine arts, emphasizing the significance of the cultural atmosphere of his home and of the artistic circles of Wadowice and Cracow. She specifically describes young Wojtyła’s visits to various artists’ studios and the ways in which those visits are reflected in his own creative work.
