Philosophizing with Students: On the Role of Teaching Philosophy in Schools

Abstract

Teaching philosophy in schools embraces an enormous educational and pedagogical potential. Due to the dynamism of our time and the current schooling tasks it involves I focus on the latter aspect. In it, I make reference to the ancient conception of philosophy whose function was formation of individuals as a result of immersing them in philosophical discourse. Whereas the final part of the article comprises a discussion of the benefits that come from such an attitude, its opening part expounds the premises of my argument.
