Hadrian’s epistle about the sale of fish at Eleusis IG II² 1103. Text, translation, annotation

Abstract

During his reign, Emperor Hadrian paid much attention to the food supply of the Roman cities. Based on the inscription IG II² 1103, the author discusses the emperor’s regulation of the fish trade in Athens and the restriction of the role of middlemen in order to reduce prices.
