The Hermeneutics of the Person in the Thought of Karola Wojtyła—John Paul II

Abstract
The article reflects on the hermeneutics of the person as a tool for analyzing the meaning of human existence, based on the study of factors that shape identity within the context of Karol Wojtyła’s philosophy. The main research problem concerns the influence of the interpretive process on the formation of identity and the understanding of the human person. The analysis employs a philosophical method, drawing on the hermeneutical contributions of Martin Heidegger, Hans-Georg Gadamer, and the personalism of Karol Wojtyła. The primary focus is on the hermeneutics of action and the ontology of action, emphasizing the significance of action as the foundation of personal identity and responsibility. The analysis demonstrates that human existence is rooted in a continuous process of interpretation, grounded in personal experiences and dialogue with others. Hermeneutics is shaped by the dynamic relationship between subjective experience and objective reality. In Wojtyła’s thought, the roles of the transcendence of action, freedom, and responsibility are recognized as expressions of authentic self-fulfillment. Furthermore, communal personalism presents personal identity through interpersonal relationships, while Christological hermeneutics identifies Jesus Christ as the central reference point for understanding human dignity and vocation. Future research may focus on an in-depth analysis of the hermeneutics of interpersonal relationships, the role of education in the process of personal formation, and the significance of the Christological dimension in shaping contemporary philosophical anthropology.
