Bitcoin - a multifaceted issue

Abstract

Currently, in the market we are dealing with the transactions in the Internet with the participation of approx. 500 different virtual systems of currencies50, of which the most popular is a decentralized Bitcoin system. These projects - which are still in the experimental stage - are analyzed and gradually legal actions are taken in order to control the trading of that money. The aim of the article is to present events affecting the growing interest in virtual money by finding answers to the following research questions:
1. What are virtual currencies, how are they divided and defined?
2. What is the current state of bitcoin?
3. What are the opportunities and threats of trading Bitcoin?
4. What is the scope of regulation for Bitcoin?
5. What degree of control is suggested by banks?
Key conclusion on virtual currency show that new form may spread and it has a Chance to gain importance in everyday commercial transactions.
