The following article tells about the history of the Polish Bar from XVII century when the professional character of the Bar appeared. In the times of subordination of Polish lands to Russia, Austria and Prussia the structure of Polish Bar was determined by the provisions of the invading countries. After regaining the independency, Polish attorneys started to create their own structures based on self-government. But the II World War broke out and the existing order collapsed. Almost half of the attorneys died and those who survived had to face the new regime created by Stalin. Finally, after the Solidarity uprising and fall of the communism, Polish attorneys gained a chance to develop.
