Abstract
"Green finance" is merely the financing of public and private "green" investments, that is, investments in environmental protection, as well as investments meant to prevent, minimize, and compensate for environmental and climate damage. This phrase also refers to aspects of the financial system and funding for environmental protection, mitigation and adaptation measures. This study reviews the state of the art concept of green finance. The origin, essence, and relevance of this phenomenon in the context of sustainable development are discussed. Key components and tools for green finance were identified. The main purpose of this study, however, was to identify research directions in green finance with a focus on potential research gaps.
