Abstract

On the discussion of homosexuality and biblical teaching consider the texts from Jude 7 and 2 Peter 2:6 and Revelation 22:15. Because none of these texts directly address issues related to the moral evaluation of homosexuality, it is often accused of being misinterpreted and used in an unjustified way of teaching. This study focuses on analyzing these fragments, to show their functions in those arguments, their persuasive power and theological sense, and to verify the legitimacy of referring to these texts in discussions on homosexuality and its assessment. Detailed analyses allow us to conclude that none of these works deals directly with the topic of homosexuality. It is also not evident that the undertaking of homosexual activity by Christians informed these statements’ historical and rhetorical context. For the authors of the three writings, this question was not the essence of their teaching. However, all analyzed fragments concern, to a different extent, the sphere of human sexuality. Any sexual act and behavior that is inconsistent with God’s will are negatively evaluated and are depicted as a consequence of denying the authority of Jesus Christ, leading to impiety, and as a cause leading to the loss of the grace of salvation.
