AI TOOLS USE POLICY
The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, as the publisher of the journal Przegląd Prawno-Ekonomiczny, declares that, as a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), it has implemented and applies the ethical standards developed by COPE regarding the use of generative artificial intelligence (GAI) tools. In addition, it will draw upon the guidelines developed by ELSEVIER regarding the use of such tools by Editors, Authors and Reviewers.
The Editorial Team of the journal Przegląd Prawno-Ekonomiczny does not recommend that Authors use GAI tools for writing texts. However, if, for important and justified reasons, they have been used to generate text fragments, create images/graphics, or collect and analyse data, this should always take place under the supervision and control of the Authors. Authors should carefully check the content generated using such tools and bear full responsibility for it. GAI tools cannot be considered as authors of the publication.
When submitting a manuscript, authors are required to disclose and describe the extent to which they have used GAI tools. They must describe in detail which tools were used, exactly how and to what extent they were used, and how this has influenced the work in question.
The following statement format is preferred:
During the preparation of the work [TITLE], the author(s) used [TOOL NAME] for the purpose of [REASON]. [DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF USE]. Subsequently, the author(s) carried out a thorough, critical review of the text, particularly with regard to the possibility of generating false, incomplete, or biased information, the occurrence of plagiarism, or the absence or incorrect attribution of authorship, and edited it accordingly. The author(s) fully accept(s) the submitted manuscript, assure(s) that there are no breaches of publication ethics, and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the publication.
The use of AI solely for the purpose of improving the readability and quality of the text, i.e. as part of grammar and spelling checkers, will not require disclosure.
The statement should be entered in the ‘message to the editor’ field when submitting the text via OJS.
Information about the AI tools used will be published at the end of the text. The Editorial Team reserves the right to verify authors’ declarations using AI detectors.
Reviewers appointed to assess a manuscript are fully responsible for the content of their reviews and should not use generative AI tools when assessing the texts submitted to them for review. In this regard, the Editorial Team follows Elsevier’s guidelines - https://www.elsevier.com/about/policies-and-standards/the-use-of-generative-ai-and-ai-assisted-technologies-in-the-review-process
