What’s Next for Qualitative Research?
Abstract
The challenges and future of qualitative research in the face of quickly changing methods and technologies are discussed in this article. It starts by examining the effects of technology, such as artificial intelligence, on qualitative research and the associated ethical and legal issues. The author emphasizes the importance of contemplation and reflexivity in research, highlighting the overload that researchers face as they must adapt to new technologies and methods. The article recommends contemplative research, which includes methods such as contemplative interview, self-observation, self-reporting, and contemplative notes, to improve the comprehension of research procedures. The essay ends by discussing the necessity of slowing down the research process to conduct a more comprehensive examination and consideration of knowledge generation.
